Hello Ag & Climate Cluster (ACC):

At the rescheduled ACC monthly call next Tuesday 2021-07-13 @ 1500 hrs EDT,
Dave Zader (Wildland Fire Administrator for the Boulder, CO Fire
Department, retired) will be on the call.  Dave is one of two invited
speakers to the ACC and Semantic Harmonization Cluster co-organized session
on 2021-07- 21 (1100 hrs EDT) titled "Identifying technology capabilities
that meet wildfire science and practitioner requirements

(The other invited speaker is US Forest Service representative
Everett Hinkley, who is on scheduled break and may not be able to join us
next week.)

Dave has offered to give us a preview of his presentation, focused on the
use of geospatial data to identify "planning polygons" that help him
strategize how to direct fire crews to ameliorate potential damages to
values-at-risk (e.g. infrastructure, cultural resources, biodiversity
hotspots, etc).  Dave's knowledge and experience encapsulates the complex
conceptual-space of how values-at-risk are prioritized by different
communities, the use of natural and man-made features to create planning
polygons, and the prioritization of options for fire-management.  That
knowledge, if adequately captured in machine-readable
knowledge-representation forms, can be used to better discover and relate
disparate data and information for decision-making.

If you are not able to make it for the ESIP summer meeting, join us to get
a sense of what we will be discussing later this month.  If you are
planning to attend the summer meeting, please join us next Tuesday to help
derive a preliminary set of questions that can be used to inform a number
of deliverables that will be generated from our ESIP summer meeting
session.  These deliverables will be outlined in a separate email next week
to help you prepare for the upcoming ACC and Semantic Harmonization Cluster
co-organized session.
