September 3, 2004, Wayland, Massachusetts. The Open Geospatial
Consortium (OGC) (formerly the Open GIS Consortium), NAVTEQ and the
Chicago Geospatial Exchange invite those interested in geospatial
technologies and telematics to attend "OGC Industry Day - Geospatial
Requirements for Telematics" on Monday, 13 September, 9:00 AM - 5:00
PM at the Holiday Inn Chicago - Mart Plaza in downtown Chicago. This
event will bring together government, industry and academic experts to
present, learn about, discuss and demonstrate geospatial information
requirements and solutions for Homeland Security, Location Services
and Vehicle Services (Telematics). Visit
http://www.opengeospatial.org/events/?page=040913 for more detailsor
send email to registration at opengeospatial.org. Seating is limited.

The event will focus on the role of Intelligent Transportation Systems
(ITS) in government, business, and consumer services. The requirements
for Vehicle Infrastructure Integration (VII) and related topics will
be featured. Attendees will network with others to learn about
successes to date and to discuss the challenges that must be resolved
to mobilize innovative technologies and interoperable solutions that
address government, business and consumer needs. There are no
registration fees associated with attending this event.

An evening reception following the day's plenary sessions will include
cocktails and demonstrations of telematics, navigation and geospatial
technologies. NAVTEQ will conduct live demonstrations of the company's
proprietary data collection technology and tools in the afternoon and
evening. Other vendors of telematics products and services are invited
to demonstrate their offerings.

The OGC is an international voluntary consensus standards organization
of more than 250 companies, government agencies and universities
participating in a consensus process to develop publicly available
geoprocessing interface specifications. OGC's Specifications support
interoperable solutions that "geo-enable" the Web, wireless and
location-based services, and mainstream IT.
