Following the Federation Meeting, there is a Thursday afternoon meeting
of the Technology Infusion Working Group (TIWG), open to everyone. TIWG
is one of four NASA Earth Science Data System Working Groups (formerly
called SEEDS).

Thursday 6/16/05 1:00 PM - 5:30 PM PST

1:00 - 2:30 Web Services Infusion Roadmap
The value of Web Services increases geometrically with the number of
participants who have adopted the technology. This session will work to
create a "roadmap" for deploying Web Services technology (SOAP, WSDL,
UDDI, etc.). Consideration will be given to infrastructure components
needed to enable Web Services (e.g., service directories), reasonable
timelines for deploying needed capabilities, and NASA's role in
facilitating the deploying of this valuable technology. (This session
is a follow-up to the morning session on Web Services case studies.)

2:45 - 3:45 ECHO- A Case Study for Technology Infusion
ECHO is an excellent example of infusing a new technology into the Earth
science community. The ECHO team will lead a discussion of the various
barriers to infusion, both sociological and technical, using ECHO
experiences as a specific case study and inviting discussion by
attendees of related barriers and solutions from their experience.

4:00 - 5:30 Technology Infusion Recommendations
NASA is in a unique position to facilitate the infusion of key
technologies needed to reach the goals set out in the Earth
science strategic plan. Based on the discussions above, the group will
formulate additional recommendations on actions. NASA can take to
accelerate technology infusion.
