Re-DISCOVER the GHRC Data Pool Version 2
Huntsville, Alabama, June 10 - The Global Hydrology Resource Center
(GHRC) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH) announce the
public release of the GHRC Data Pool Version 2. As part of the
NASA-funded DISCOVER (Distributed Information Services for Climate and
Ocean Products and Visualizations for Earth Research), a REASoN (Earth
Science Research, Education and Applications Solutions Network) project,
the GHRC and UAH have enhanced the GHRC Data Pool environment. DISCOVER
is a collaboration among Remote Sensing Systems, UAH and NASA/MSFC. The
Data Pool supports automated online data ordering of Earth science data
sets, in particular passive microwave and other related products. The
Data Pool interface provides data search, subsetting, automated
packaging and notification, and an integrated order tracking system.
Improvements for version 2 include:
- File-level subsetting for all available data products
- Swath data visualization through OGC-compliant web map services
- Closer integration with the catalog database for improved
dependability
- Use of distributed service architecture for improved reliability
against network interruptions
- Performance improvements for processing large orders
The GHRC Data Pool team invites the Earth science community to check out
the new functionality and provide feedback on problems and suggestions
for improvements. The GHRC Data Pool is available at
