CODATA, the Committee on Data for Science and Technology of the
International Council for Science, will be holding its 20th
International CODATA Conference in Beijing, China on 23-25 October
2006. The CODATA conference is a unique venue for addressing science
data research and management issues across a wide range of scientific
disciplines and with broad international participation. I encourage
all Federation members to consider participating in the Conference.

The Call for Papers is available at:

http://www.codataweb.org/06conf/call.html

The deadline is 31 March. Organized oral and poster sessions can also
be proposed.

The Conference will include high-level representation from the Chinese
scientific community, as well as a selection of plenary and keynote
speakers on data policy, techniques, and applications. I'm directly
involved in organizing sessions on hazards data, geospatial data
applications, the International Polar Year, and information commons
issues. Please let me know if you have any interest in participating
in any of these, or if you have any general questions about the
Conference.

Cheers, Bob.
