Research Scientist
Innovim (www.innovim.com) has a mid-level opening at NASA Goddard Space
Flight Center for a research associate with Matlab and Fortran
programming skills, to support environmental science project work
studying forest health, disturbance and impacts to the North American
carbon cycle. Duties will include: . Develop and maintain model
algorithms in MatLab . collect and analyze remote sensing data, forrest
distrubance and forrest inventory data. You will use bio-geo-chemical
models to estimate N. American bio-mass and carbon fluxes. . maintain
the existing Carnegie Ames Stanford Approache CASA model. . collect and
stage satellite data, downloading inventory, climate data and staging
for model runs. . document implemented programs as well as project
activity and results . publish papers at scientific conferences and
workshops . support follow-on proposal development. . coordinate
technical tasks among project collaborators . will also use ENVI and Arc
software as well for mapping. Some domestic travel to scientific
meetings required. Qualifications include: . minimum of 2 years of
experience programming in MatLab . excellent written and oral
communication skills . expert analytical and programming skills using
Matlab . ability to manage multiple tasks . comfortable and rewarded
working independently . college degree in computer science, mathematics
or engineering . some experience with remote sensing and Geospatial data
is a plus Security Clearance is not needed. Must be legally eligible to
work in the U.S. as a fulltime employee at a U.S. Federal Government
