Hi Everyone,
As many of you know I am involved in the Climate Literacy Network (
http://cleanet.org/cln) and the Climate Literacy and Energy Awareness
Network (CLEAN) Pathway project (http://cleanet.org). Part of this effort
has been to identify a set of Energy Literacy principles similar to the
other literacy documents (Climate, Atmosphere, Ocean, Earth Science).
Secretary Chu at the Department of Energy has made this a priority and has
identified Michelle Fox and Matthew Innman (see below) to carry this
forward. There have been two meetings (Nov 1 and Dec 15) to get the
process going and develop a draft set of principles. This is now
available for public comment (link below). You are all invited to provide
input and comments on the current draft.
Thanks
Tamara

Subject: Energy Literacy
Energy Literacy Stakeholders,
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break.
As I announced in my email of December 21st, the Energy Literacy wiki is
up and ready to go:
http://wiki.citizen.apps.gov/Energy_Literacy
We had a few technical difficulties intitially, but I think these have
been fixed and we are ready to go!
Please
- visit the wiki and see what we're up to,
- contribute or edit if you have the time and are so inclined,
- pass the wiki link on to others who are interested.
Other Energy Literacy news:
- There was an Energy Literacy gathering at Other Lab in San Francisco on
December 15th. See the article written about the gathering at
http://gigaom.com/cleantech/why-we-need-energy-literacy .
- We are working on organizing an Energy Literacy meeting to be held in
the DC area in mid-February at which draft language for the document will
be looked at and discussed. Look for more details soon.
- We are working on organizing an Energy Literacy meeting to be held in
the San Francisco area in mid-March at which draft language for the
document will be looked at and discussed. Look for more details soon.
Thank you so much for participating,
Matthew
