All:
Please consider submitting an abstract to the following session to be held at the American Geophysical Union Fall meeting, December 5 - 9, 2011 in San Francisco, CA, USA.
Abstract Deadline is August 4, 2011. http://www.agu.org/meetings/
This session is intended for organizations around the world to share their approaches to handle data challenges presented by the next generation geostationary satellites.
Session ID: IN32.
Session Title: The Near-Future: GOES-R and Next Generation Weather and Observation Constellations
Description: NOAA is designing the next generation of Geostationary GOES, GOES-R. This next generation GOES will provide continued observation of the earth, with significant improvements in the types and volumes of data available to the weather and science communities. The GOES-R constellation shares challenges with other advanced multi-channel imagers and sensors, including higher data volumes, with reduced latencies, to a broader base of users. Presentations addressing these informatics and science application challenges are welcome, with the goal of introducing the community to the GOES-R program and its capabilities, and how the community is responding to the opportunities that these types of systems are providing.
Thank you for your consideration,
Michael Burnett
