Re: Announcing AGU Session IN15: Envisioning Improvements for Earth
Science Data Access

Hello,

I assume all of you are getting numerous emails from all the session
chairs, reminding you of the upcoming deadline of August 4 for submitting
abstracts to AGU sessions. Please consider submitting an abstract to the
session, IN15: Envisioning Improvements for Earth Science Data Access. We
are happy to announce that we have strong invited speaker contributions to
anchor our session, and would like to solicit presentations on new ideas
for improving access to Earth science data.

Sincerely,

Announcing AGU Session IN15: Envisioning Improvements for Earth Science
Data Access

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Announcing 2011 Fall AGU Session IN15: Envisioning Improvements for Earth
Science Data Access.

The 2011 Fall Meeting will be held on 5-9 December 2011 in San Francisco,
California.

The deadline for abstracts is 4 August 2011 (a month earlier than last
year).
AGU Abstract Submission Policies and a link to submit your abstract is
available at
http://sites.agu.org/fallmeeting/scientific-program/submit-policies/
AGU 2011 general meeting information is available at

IN15 Session Description: Today?s researchers are dependent on multiple
methods to discover and get data from the many data centers that collect
and provide internet access to the large quantities of data from
spacecraft and in-situ observations. Organizations receive guidance from
steering committees, user focus groups, and surveys. They collect metrics
and perform web analysis. This session covers topics on expected
improvements in information services and the rationale for their
selection. Improvements include scalable systems and projects that guide
effective Web services, user data access methods and tools,
interoperability among centers, use of standards such the OGC and the
OpenDAP, ISO metadata and archive information packaging.

This will be a great opportunity to share your experience, plans and
vision for future Earth science data access. We are looking forward to
hearing from you!

Sincerely,
