Hi All -

I hope that all of you are getting some down time in the last few weeks of
summer. The last update I sent was pre-ESIP Summer Meeting and lots has
happened in the last month!

The *Summer Meeting*
<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Summer_2011_Meeting>was very
productive, focused
on a theme of *Data Quality*, the ESIP Federation heard from experts,
practitioners and users about many dimensions of data quality. Interest in
the ESIP Federation continuing to grow with seven new members joining at the
ESIP Summer meeting as well as three new clusters formed during meeting. The
new clusters are a Drupal Cluster, CF Cluster (NetCDF Climate and Forecast),
and Cloud Computing Cluster. Just a few links to point to for those that
weren't there:

   - Meeting packet
docs<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Summer_2011_Meeting#E-Packet>
(Opportunities,
   Strategic Retreat Report Out, etc)
   - ESIP Poster
Session<http://digocean.net/content/esip-fed-summer-meeting-2011>.
ESIP beta tested, Skolr, a digital poster service developed by the New Media
Studio, to archive, share and discuss posters.
   - Plenary presentations
<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/July_13,_2011> are
   posted.

This Fall, we will be moving away from weekly push-oriented email blasts to
pull-oriented feeds - blogs for much of the info in these updates, calendar
for events and other feeds for opportunities and resources. This will allow
you to subscribe to the pieces that are of interest to you and ignore the
parts that aren't. The other benefit of this shift is that others not on the
list, could also find this content. A first step to this is a public *Google
Calendar for ESIP
telecons*<https://www.google.com/calendar/b/0/embed?src=sb9cnmaknqpsifs7ttn9ksobu0@group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America/Chicago>and
activities (ical
feed<https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/sb9cnmaknqpsifs7ttn9ksobu0%40group.calendar.google.com/public/basic.ics>).
Thanks Chris Lynnes for setting this up to share.
WebEx<https://esipfed.webex.com/mw0306ld/mywebex/default.do?siteurl=esipfed&service=1>details
will be added to this calendar as well.

* Quick reminder to Assembly Reps - Please review the new member
applications <http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Partnership_Applications>that
have been approved by Partnership and cast
your vote<https://spreadsheets.google.com/a/esipfed.org/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dEhpMF9pSGd4c3JNMTJ1a2dUeGI5TkE6MA#gid=0>
.

Best -
Erin
