[ESIP-all] Working Group on Internal ESIP Education

Happy Monday, everybody!


At the summer ESIP meeting discussions about new ways to help ESIP groups
and ESIPs gain more expertise in various arenas of knowledge (visualization,
semantic web, data management, etc.) revealed the need for more learning
opportunities between meetings.


The ESIP Education Committee then voted to explore a working group that
would do a couple things: recommend educational content development
resources (e.g., curriculum development tools, online webinar
best-practices, etc.); and would coordinate matching ESIP educators who have
expertise with ESIP groups that want to create more learning tools and
content.


At the August ESIP Education Committee telecon, the Committee reaffirmed
these activities and offered to assist.


There are some Next Steps to spinning up this Working Group:


The ESIP IEWG (Internal Education Working Group) still needs a Chairperson.


And the IEWG will also want to begin to scope out how many ESIP groups
(committees, working groups, and clusters) might have near-term needs for
designing and implementing educational services.

   1. Volunteer to Chair this effort (just send me an email)... Enormous
   Kudos will ensue.
