We are very excited about the upcoming Winter ESIP Federation meeting
(January 4-6, 2012 in DC at the Renaissance Washington D.C.  DuPont Circle
Hotel). With a theme of Connections Through Collaboration: Engaging
Community Throughout the Data Life Cycle, the meeting will examine the
dimensions of the ESIP community that contribute to improving the flow and
use of data.

We have heard of many sessions that are under consideration for the meeting
and we have set up submission form for the community to submit their session
requests via <http://esipfed.org/Meeting%20Abstract%20Submission%20Form>. As
we expect space to be a premium for this meeting, submissions are due Oct.
21. Proposals are being accepted for breakouts and workshops.

* At workshops, participants have hands-on interaction, such as
demonstrations of how skills or ideas can be practically applied.
* Breakout sessions are discussions or series of presentations on a specific
topic or theme. Here is some guidance for breakout session leaders
<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Guidance_for_Breakout_Session_Leaders>.

Watch the ESIP Federation website for the opening of the meeting
registration, set for Oct. 24. If you have questions, please feel free to
contact Erin (erinrobinson at esipfed.org) or me.

Regards,
Carol
