Hi All -

I hope you have had a good holiday so far and are ready for the ESIP
Meeting<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Winter_2012_Meeting>next
week. Below are a few notes relevant to the esip-all list, even if you
aren't attending the meeting (it's not too late to
register<https://www.regonline.com/register/checkin.aspx?MethodId=0&eventsessionId=92f470b3c9cc444692fd52b5e616e6ab&eventID=1014519>
!).

*Check out the (Draft) Meeting
Program<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/File:Federation_of_Earth_Science_Information_Partners_Posters_Sessions_V4.doc#file>
*
The meeting program<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/File:Federation_of_Earth_Science_Information_Partners_Posters_Sessions_V4.doc#file>is
almost finalized. Thank you again to everyone that got abstracts and
session descriptions in earlier this year. Even if you're not going to the
meeting it is worth a look through the poster abstracts to see what fellow
ESIP members are working on.

*Remote Participation<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/2012_Winter_Meeting_Remote_Participation>
*
The plenary sessions will be streamed via WebEx and recorded for viewing
after. There will also be a limited selection of breakout sessions on
Wednesday and Thursday available for remote participation. These are listed
in the program with an *.

You can also follow along with the hallway chatter via Twitter by searching
for #ESIPFed <https://twitter.com/#!/search/%23ESIPFED>.

*Opportunities Board
<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/2012_Winter_Meeting_Opportunities>
*
After the success at AGU with the ESSI Opportunities poster and in lieu of
the opportunities document we normally print, we are going to have an ESIP
Opportunities bulletin board at the registration desk and virtually on the
wiki <http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/2012_Winter_Meeting_Opportunities>.
This could be anything from breakout session advertisement, birds of a
feather interest, grant opportunities or meeting announcements.

These will be packaged up after the meeting and sent out in a document to
the entire list as well.

If you are not going to be at the meeting, but have an item you'd like
posted send me an email or add it directly to the wiki and it will be added
to the board.

*Could you get more out of ESIP?*
A new working group is assessing what tools and skills ESIP clusters,
groups, and individuals could use to improve collaboration and
communication.

Please consider taking 5 minutes to complete a brief Needs Assessment
Survey<http://bit.ly/uRnGzr> to
help us identify communication and professional development needs among the
ESIP community.

At the Winter Meeting, we'll share results of the survey and provide an
overview of a range of options for addressing the most common needs
identified. To be sure solutions to your needs are included, please
complete the survey, and attend the session on the first day of the Winter
Meeting.

Session: Assessing and Addressing ESIP's Professional Development Needs
Leaders: LuAnn Dahlman, Margaret Mooney, ESIP Student Fellows
Time: Wednesday, January 4, 4:00 - 5:30 pm

*Thanks! *It has been a great year for ESIP. Thank you all for your
contributions and being part of our community. Carol and I are excited to
see many of you next week. Happy New Year!

Best -
Erin
