Hi All -

A few quick notes this week:

   1. Early Bird

   *ends tomorrow, May 31*. On-site rates increase $100 starting June 1.
      - Both virtual and face-to-face participation is available

      2. Work going on around ESIP:
      - *Energy and
Climate<http://wiki.esipfed.org/index.php/Energy_and_Climate>
      * has become a work group. They have drafted a white
paper<http://wiki.esipfed.org/images/c/c6/Dynamic_Decision_Tools_Catalog_and_CoP_ESIP2012.doc>on
their plans to develop a decision support tool finder. They are
meeting
      tomorrow at 3 pm EDT (details on calendar<http://esipfed.org/telecons>
      ).
      - *Air Quality* is currently reviewing the AQ Interoperability Best
      Practices<http://cyair.net/sites/default/files/CyAir_Best_Practices_April_30_2012.pdf>,
      drafted by the CyAir group <http://cyair.net/>. They are also meeting
      Thurs, 6/7 for a session on feedback - data format and naming
conventions.

      - *Visualization* is in the process of receiving proposals
      for presentations and are interested in aspects related to
      visualization frameworks, either from the developer or user perspective.

      3. *NOAA Environmental Data Management Conference
Re-Cap*<https://www.nosc.noaa.gov/edmcon/>: The
   3rd annual NOAA Environmental Data Management Conference took place May
   15-17, 2012. This annual conference is building a NOAA-wide community of
   experts * *who seek to improve the management of and services offered
   for the agency’s data resources. The conference brought together some 135
   NOAA personnel and external partners to discuss agency-wide initiatives and
   practices related to data management in NOAA. The conference sessions
   addressed a wide range of data management topics including Data Access and
   Discovery, Data Documentation, Data Citation, Cloud Computing, Data
   Management Planning, and Portals and Catalogs.  Keynote presentations were
   given by NOAA’s Chief Information Officer Joe Klimavicz, Mike Daconta
   (InCadence), Dave Jones (StormCenter Communications) and Peter Fox
   (Tetherless World Constellation at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute).
