Yes, the AGU and GSA abstracts are due the same day this year - August
6th. I realize that many of you can't go to both. However, if you are
going to GSA, you live close to where the GSA meeting is going to be held
this year - Denver Colorado, or you can go to both the AGU and GSA
meetings.....PLEASE CONSIDER SUBMITTING AN ABSTRACT TO ONE OF THE TWO
CLIMATE LITERACY GSA SESSIONS.

The titles and descriptions are below along with the links to get more
information about the meeting and to submit an abstract.

Thanks
Tamara

Dear Colleagues,

Are you planning to attend GSA in Denver this year (27-30 October)?
http://community.geosociety.org/2013AnnualMeeting/Home

There are two climate literacy sessions – to which we would like you to
consider submitting abstracts, and a pre-GSA meeting (Oct 26th) workshop
that we encourage you to attend.

The two climate literacy sessions are described below. The abstracts can
be submitted here
http://community.geosociety.org/2013AnnualMeeting/Sessions until August 6,
2013.

EDUC T115: Climate Literacy: Formal and Informal Education and Community
Outreach Efforts to Enable Responsible Decisions
Papers focusing on descriptions of efforts for pre-college (students &
teachers), higher education, informal education audiences and community
outreach including materials, activities, curriculum, capstone projects,
service learning, professional development programs, and community
activities are invited.
(convenors: Tamara Shapiro Ledley, Susan Buhr, and Jeffrey Ryan)

EDUC T116: Climate Literacy: Research and Evaluation Results From Informal
and Formal Climate Education Efforts
This session focuses on what education; social and cognitive research and
project evaluation can tell us about misconceptions and incorrect mental
models that hinder the understanding of the complex climate system.
(convenors: Anne Gold & Karen McNeal)

The CLEAN team is also offering a pre-GSA workshop on Saturday October 26.
Please consider attending the workshop:
519B – Teaching and Learning about Climate in the Geoscience Classroom
Saturday, 10/26 8 am – noon

We look forward to strong sessions that represent the breadth of work that
our community does around climate literacy efforts. We encourage you to
submit an abstract to our sessions.

From the session conveners:
Tamara Ledley, Anne Gold, Susan Buhr, Karen McNeal, Jeffrey Ryan
