Dear Colleagues:
If the topic seems relevant to your work, please consider submitting an
abstract to the following session of the 2014 Fall AGU Meeting.
Session Title: Enabling Science Through Reuse of Data and Free and Open
Source Software
Session URL:
https://agu.confex.com/agu/fm14/webprogrampreliminary/Session3135.html
Session ID#: 3135
Session Description:
Science today relies heavily on software. Free and Open Source Software
is of particular importance to science because the open access to its
source codes addresses the fundamental principle of transparency and
reproducibility of science. This session will describe concepts and best
practices for contributing and adopting open source software to improve
science and enable the sharing and reuse of scientific data. Topics
include the growing role of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in
science, infrastructure and software evolution, successful applications,
community models, licensing, enabling interoperability, and concepts and
best practices for providing and communicating scientific software
through code repositories and publications.
