Dear colleagues,
We cordially invite you to submit an abstract to session 2322,
"Improving Discoverability of Geophysical Data," of the AGU meeting to
be held 2014 Dec 15-19 in San Francisco. Abstracts are due 2014 Aug 6.

Session Description:
This session focuses on recent or potential improvements to the
discoverability of geophysical observations and model outputs. Users
must be able to find needed data, often across disciplines. Furthermore,
the US government's Open Data Policy (2013) has required comprehensive
inventories of federal data assets; these inventories could in turn be
used to feed national, international, or thematic discovery portals.
However, the great diversity of geophysical data, and the multitude of
organizations and programs that produce those data, make successful and
comprehensive searching difficult. Potential topics include catalog
implementations and protocols, use of commercial search engines,
discovery metadata formats and approaches, techniques for harvesting and
federation of catalogs, linked data, controlled vocabulary and
semantics, and other research or innovations.
