Hi All -
I'm excited to announce we are now accepting applications for the 2nd
Raskin Scholar <http://esipfed.org/raskinscholarship> (due 10/1) and the 4th
class of ESIP Student Fellows <http://esipfed.org/page-12> (due 10/8).
The* Raskin Scholarship <http://esipfed.org/raskinscholarship> *is in
memory of Rob Raskin, a long-time ESIP community member and major
contributor to Earth science informatics field. The scholarship is awarded
to a current graduate student studying an Earth science, computer science
or closely related discipline and have an interest in fields related to
current technical, scientific or applied activities of the ESIP Federation.
In addition to a cash prize, the awarded scholar will give a keynote talk
at the 2015 ESIP Summer Meeting.
*ESIP Student Fellows* <http://esipfed.org/page-12> are
graduate students and post-docs interested in bridging the gap between
informatics, technology and Earth Science and applying research to
real-world problems. This fellowship provides students a chance to work
closely with professionals in an interdisciplinary, cross-sector group on
current Earth Science problems. The students will become engaged in their
respective group as rapporteurs, documenting the work of the group on the
monthly telecons and at the semi-annual meetings (Summer/Winter). As the
student become more familiar with the group activities he or she may chose
to tie in their own research to the group activities.Student Fellows will
receive a stipend of $2000 plus travel expenses to the summer and
winter ESIP meetings.
For full details on the either of these opportunities see the ESIPFed
website <http://esipfed.org/node/2653>. For questions, please e-mail me at
