The Orbiting Carbon Observatory (OCO-2) Project at the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and the NASA Goddard Earth Sciences Data and Information Services Center (GES DISC) are pleased to announce the first public release of carbon dioxide data from the observatory.

This public release is encompassing the OCO-2 Level 2 geolocated XCO2 retrieval results (Level 2 Standard), with ancillary data (Level 2 Diagnostic). A new solar-induced fluorescence product (Level 2 IMAPDOAS) is also now released. This release also includes updated data for radiometrically calibrated spectra (Level 1B), as well as upstream digital records (Level 1A, and Attitude and Ephemeris of the spacecraft) used in the production of the Level 1B calibrated radiances.

README document summarizing the current and upcoming data releases, and important quality screening recommendations, is available at:

JPL and GES DISC are also releasing a joint web news<http://disc.sci.gsfc.nasa.gov/datareleases/First_CO2_data_from_OCO-2> covering the new Level 2 products, the OCO-2 health and position in the A-Train formation, and preliminary maps of global CO2 concentrations.
