[ESIP-all] White House Water Summit

Dear Colleagues:

This is to let you know there will be two events related to World Water Day this week. The first is a White House Water Summit on Tuesday March 22, at which two commitments will be announced by the Executive Office of the President that concern the research led by Prof. David R Maidment at the University of Texas at Austin to support the National Water Model, one in collaboration with CUAHSI and the Universities Consortium for Geographic Information Science, and the other in collaboration with ESRI and Kisters who have financially and technically supported the research for the past two years. The text of these commitments is attached to this message. If you are interested to follow along with the White House Water Summit, it will be live streamed at https://www.whitehouse.gov/live/white-house-water-summit, from 9AM to 12:30PM Eastern Time.

A companion event on Wednesday March 23 will be a “Conversation about the National Water Model” held at the National Academies, at which the National Water Model and the academic research supporting it are being presented to some of the science leaders of the federal agencies, see attached flyer.

These events will be very broad in scope and give an indication as to what issues the current administration thinks are of importance for the nation.
