[apologies if you receive this multiple times - trying to ensure wide distribution]

I’d like to encourage entries to the International Data Rescue Award (IDRA) competition. There had been some language (now removed) in earlier announcements for this year’s competition that made it appear that government employees were disqualified from application. That is not the case, and government types (and others!) are encouraged to apply. The deadline has been extended to October 16, 2016. This is an excellent way to highlight some of the critical work that gets done on making dark data visible.

More details on the competition, including the previous winners, can be found here:
https://www.elsevier.com/physical-sciences/earth-and-planetary-sciences/the-2016-international-data-rescue-award-in-the-geosciences/idra-judging

Please share with others who may have data rescue projects, large or small, funded or unfunded, underway.

Thanks!
Denise
