Hi,

Within the interagency working US Group on Earth Observations (USGEO), I am on a team writing the implementation plan for parts of the National Plan on Civil Earth Observations that was released last December (here is the link to the plan - https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Natl-Plan-for-Civil-Earth-Obs.pdf<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__www.whitehouse.gov_wp-2Dcontent_uploads_2019_12_Natl-2DPlan-2Dfor-2DCivil-2DEarth-2DObs.pdf&d=DwMFAg&c=ApwzowJNAKKw3xye91w7BE1XMRKi2LN9kiMk5Csz9Zk&r=rwijAm-8iiKmZq_qh7ruJzkoonvG3jthVfmOWpYBMHo&m=ibxPkFi7r6zNRxPHcP2HAxwT3qM-Fr4zSGhyGSUx5zY&s=Mom5BfZ_0vwgVA7Fdfwnz43EMYyM7M2dgdvRpTpVqNc&e=>).

I am interested in listening to companies and other private sector entities in the Earth observing/satellite remote sensing space (be it technology, data, or data analytics) on their experience working with the Federal government. Our writing team wants to understand effective approaches, challenges, and opportunities for the government and private sector to work together and promote innovations on uses of Earth observations. We are looking for frank discussions and ideas/possible solutions.

My job is to collect information and provide broad generalized results of my conversations to the other members of the working group. As such, your comments, company, and identity will be held confidential and any report to the committee will only consist of broad generalizations, themes, and suggested approaches to improve and foster more effective engagement.

All conversations will be considered confidential and we will be talking to both large and small companies and those that are working with the government and those who might wish to, but have not yet. We will also be talking to those who do now want to work with the Feds to find out why.

Please contact me - bransom at nsf.gov<mailto:bransom at nsf.gov> (703) 292-7792 - if you would like to share your ideas and thoughts.

Sincerely, BARBARA RANSOM
