The Open Science & Data Help Desk
<https://www.esipfed.org/data-help-desk-at-agu-2023> *will be back* at the 2023
AGU Fall Meeting <https://www.agu.org/Fall-Meeting> (December 11-14) and *YOU

<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGeUAnZ1pI1mnZh6CKIxKg4GY7dNTal51vMXZHmf3gtkDi2A/viewform?usp=sf_link>
as a data or so*ftware expert!

This program of the Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP)
<https://www.esipfed.org/> and the American Geophysical Union (AGU), along
with their partners, provides researchers with opportunities to engage with
informatics experts in their domains. Through the last 20+ Help Desks,
researchers have learned skills and techniques to further their research
and make their data and software more open and FAIR. The Open Science &
Data Help Desk coming up at AGU23 will again be staffed with experts from
the Earth science informatics community to answer data-related questions
and to demo useful resources and we encourage you to join us
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGeUAnZ1pI1mnZh6CKIxKg4GY7dNTal51vMXZHmf3gtkDi2A/viewform>
!

What’s new this year? The Open Science & Data Help Desk is a central
feature of a broader space within the Exhibit Hall that has been
deemed the Open
Science Pavilion at AGU23 <https://data.agu.org/OSDHD/>. You can showcase
your expertise and resources at the Data Help Desk for time slots of 1-2
hours at AGU23 at no cost to you. If your organization is looking for more
exposure including a larger footprint and timeslot (½ day up to full week),
please consider the additional paid opportunities that AGU has made
available detailed here <https://data.agu.org/OSDHD/>. Note that costs for
these spaces help to defray in part the cost of the Data Help Desk.

As for the Data Help Desk, here are the ways you can participate:

   1.

   *In-Person*: Join us at the booth to answer data & software-related
   questions;
   2.

   *In-Person*: Join us at the booth to showcase a demo/tutorial of a tool
   or resource;
   3.

   Answer earth science data & software questions virtually (monitor X
   (Twitter) and/or Slack and answer where you can);
   4.

   Contribute a brief recorded demo or one-pager about a tool or resource
   to our virtual resource gallery.

To volunteer, please complete this brief form
<https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdGeUAnZ1pI1mnZh6CKIxKg4GY7dNTal51vMXZHmf3gtkDi2A/viewform?usp=sf_link>,
as soon as possible by Nov. 30, 2023. Learn more about specific options for
participating here
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1piRyCePvhrgPVWf30FVb5oIxHZKZ1DNVR_GENfCgSFU/edit?usp=sharing>.
Note: you do not have to be registered for the AGU Fall Meeting to
participate virtually. You do have to be registered to participate
in-person.

Over 20 virtual and in-person Data Help Desks have been held at
professional meetings over the last several years, including at the AGU
Fall Meeting, the GSA Annual Meeting, the ESA Annual Meeting, the European
Geosciences Union General Assembly, the Ocean Sciences Meeting, and more.
Don't miss this chance to help others with data and software-related
questions and to demo your tool or platform!
