*IN051 - Accelerating Data-Centric AI for Earth and Space Sciences*

*Data-centric AI (DCAI) is emerging as a scientific field that studies how
to systematically improve data with the goal of achieving better AI system
performances. In contrast to model-centric AI, DCAI recognizes the
imperfection of real-world data and highlights the critical role of data in
trustworthy AI systems. Despite recent development, there are still
challenges facing the earth and space science (ESS) community to fully
embrace the data-centric AI paradigm due to the nature of diverse use cases
and data types in the ESS community.*

*In this session, we encourage submissions on topics including but not
limited to:*

   1. *Training & benchmarking data development for ESS.*
   2. *Data augmentation and maintenance to address ESS data quality.*
   3. *Data governance framework in the context of AI. *
   4. *Data-centric explainable AI.*
   5. *Standardized tools, metadata format, and infrastructure to support
   the implementation of data-centric AI.*
   6. *Role of data in different phases of large pre-trained models.*
