 Dear ESIP AQ Cluster: Here is the second of two "placeholder" session
proposals we've submitted for the ESIP Summer Meeting in Asheville, NC July
23-26. It may be a few more days before we know whether the proposal has
been accepted. At our Cluster call next Thursday I hope to gather more
input to help flesh out potential speakers and additional details on scope.
Watch for an additional email about the Cluster call early next week.

2024 July ESIP Meeting Session Proposal
Please fill out the following form to propose a session for the 2024 July
ESIP Meeting (Asheville, NC; July 22-26). *Session proposals should be
submitted by 11:59 p.m. PT on Friday, May 10.* Notification of acceptance
will be shared on or around May 28.

Submitted sessions will be reviewed based on the quality and completeness
of the proposal, as well as relevance to ESIP areas of interest and to the
2024 year theme: "Grounded in Trust: Data Ethics Empower Collaboration."

*Provide as complete a session proposal as you can, including speaker
names.* Submission of a session proposal does not guarantee that the
session will be accepted. You will have a chance to update your proposal to
include more details.

*For this meeting, we are primarily focusing on 90-minute sessions.* We
encourage session leaders to concentrate on designing these high-quality,
90-minute sessions. A handful of 150-minute sessions, as well as 60-minute
sessions may also be available by invitation-only based on quality of
proposal, anticipated interest, and time available in the schedule.

Advances in Air Quality Sensing and Data Dissemination
Session Description *
Please describe your session and what you plan to do with as much
specificity as possible.
We are seeing tremendous advances in capabilities to use sensors to monitor
air quality (AQ) and open platforms to disseminate AQ data and information.
Some sensors enable participatory/community/citizen science initiatives.
New satellite sensors will provide unprecedented synoptic views of AQ.
Multiple platforms are disseminating AQ data, often in an open environment.
This session will review selected recent developments, discuss their
significance, and touch on opportunities for further advances.

Note also that ESIP Meeting feedback has consistently told us that
attendees prefer time for discussion and Q&A within each session, rather
than many back-to-back presentations. It gives them time to give input and
to make sense of what they have learned. To accommodate more speakers, you
can also use a "lightning talk" format of much shorter length, but it is
not advisable to have more than 6 speakers in a 90 min session.
