>From discussions today, here is another draft of our agenda based on my notes. We have 3 talks per session (assuming 20 min ea) and I included draft topics for the discussions on each session (assuming 30 min per session).

For those listed as speakers, please edit the draft talk titles and any other info. I will update the ESIP summer meeting wiki late next week. Again, my thanks to Bob for catching the missing talk, now included!

Karen

Evolving Data Products for Community Resilience and Disaster Applications I
Abstract/Agenda:
The Disaster Life Cycle Cluster coordinates efforts among data providers, managers and developers of disaster response systems and tools, and end-user communities within ESIP. We established an ESIP testbed called the Collaborative Common Operating Picture (C-COP) to facilitate sharing and validation of data products and tools to benefit every phase of the disaster life cycle.

This session will discuss experience with the initial use of the testbed, and describe how products and tools can be contributed to C-COP. We will discuss what aspects of candidate data products and services to test, and what success criteria can provide useful feedback to test teams.

Speakers:
Maggi Glasscoe/JPL – California Capstone May 2015 results on common operational data via XchangeCore and ArcGIS (?)

Ken Keiser, Sara Graves/UAH – Use and impact of real-time satellite data on disasters response (an NSF perspective?)

Dave Jones/StormCenter and Maggi Glasscoe/JPL (maybe Ken Keiser/UAH?) – C-COP Testbed Progress Report

Discussion topics
Lessons learned on how to use the C-COP testbed for data product evaluation
Criteria for evaluation and feedback to product developers

Evolving Data Products for Community Resilience and Disaster Applications II
Abstract/Agenda:
The Disaster Life Cycle Cluster coordinates efforts among data providers, managers and developers of disaster response systems and tools, and end-user communities within ESIP. We developed a working definition of the disaster life cycle phases. One cluster goal is to work with user communities to identify the information model and observations/outputs needed to enhance their decision-making.

This session will explore use cases, such as wildfires, droughts, floods, etc., to better understand disaster and risk management user needs and how to more effectively deliver remote sensing products to meet those needs. The implications for data systems, such as the information model and needed outputs will be discussed. We will also get an update about the California Capstone activities from May 2015 (Maggi Glasscoe/JPL).

Speakers:
Bob Chen and Greg Yetman/CIESIN – Improving earthquake risk assessments for the reinsurance industry using remote sensing and socioeconomic data

Manil Maskey/UAH – Nepal earthquake experience with SERVIR collaborators on pre-post event imagery involving NASA SPoRT

Ruth Duerr/UC – CCube concept for Disasters Data Discovery (based on EarthCube proposal for use of standards and web search strategies)

Discussion topics
Identify best practices from disaster events regarding data product discovery, delivery, and utility

Any speakers for wildfires/droughts/floods (suggestions from March meeting)?

A talk on GEOS/AIP8 use in extreme events (idea from Dave Jones)?
