[Esip-documentation] ACDD status

Bob,

For the software_version, I was thinking of processing software packages
that are provided to users and archives along with the data for
transparency. I see your point however on complexities where comprehensive
packages do not exist, or with data that is further modified after its
initial creation.

I'm still not 100% clear on the guidance for history and source. Should
'source' just reference the software or model used to create the original
data, and 'history' to document only the changes that happen after initial
creation? Is it appropriate for 'source' to also include references to the
source/ancillary data?
