Hi again,

If you are a graduate student or a recently graduated post-doc (<2 years since graduation) we would like to encourage you to apply to serve as a 2020 ESIP Community Fellow (see detailed description below). We are currently seeking a Fellow for the EnviroSensing Cluster in 2020 and would especially welcome anyone meeting the criteria who are interested in environmental sensing to apply. Note that the deadline is this Monday, October 7th. Fellows receive a $2000 stipend and paid travel to the 2020 Winter and Summer ESIP Meetings, for which attendance is required.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Scotty or myself, or our current Community Fellow, Connor Scully-Allison.

Mentors, please forward to your students or recently graduated post-docs as appropriate.

Thanks!
Renée & Scotty

> Call for Applications for the 2020 Earth Science Information Partners (ESIP) Community Fellows Program
> ESIP <https://www.esipfed.org/> Community Fellows are graduate students and post-docs (<2 yrs since graduation) interested in bridging the gap between informatics and Earth Science. This fellowship provides fellows with a chance to work closely with professionals in an interdisciplinary, cross-sector group (ESIP collaboration area <https://www.esipfed.org/get-involved/collaborate>) on current Earth Science problems. Community fellows become engaged in ESIP collaboration areas as rapporteurs, documenting group activities on monthly telecons and at ESIP’s semi-annual meetings. As fellows become more familiar with collaboration-area activities, they may choose to integrate their own research, which can result in publication and additional funding opportunities.
>
> Fellows receive a stipend of $2000. They also receive paid travel to the 2020 ESIP Winter (Jan. 7th-9th in Bethesda, MD) and Summer (July 2020, TBD) Meetings, both of which bring together the most innovative thinkers and leaders around Earth observation data, thus forming a community dedicated to making Earth observations more discoverable, accessible and useful to researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and the public.
>
> Fellows must be able to attend both meetings to participate in the fellowship, as well as be able to work legally in the US. You can learn about the 2019 Class of Community Fellows here <https://www.esipfed.org/collaboration-updates/welcome-2019-community-fellows>. Learn more about the opportunity and apply by 10/7 here <https://www.esipfed.org/get-involved/student-opportunities>.
>
> Please help share this call for applications widely. Send questions to megancarter at esipfed.org <mailto:megancarter at esipfed.org>.
