Dear Environmental Sensing and Monitoring enthusiasts,

We are excited to welcome abstract submissions to our AGU Fall 2020 session: "IN002. Advancements for in-situ terrestrial EnviroSensing: technology and practice for end-to-end data workflows, support cyberinfrastructure, and QA/QC". Our objective is to bring together diverse perspectives on science-based case studies, cutting-edge technologies, innovative approaches, and architectural perspectives as we enter a new era of data-driven environmental science and stewardship.

Session abstract:
Fusion of traditional field operations know-how with modern Internet of Things (IoT) technologies is revolutionizing approaches to in-situ sensor-based science and environmental monitoring. Local- to watershed-scale science is increasingly leveraging modern and emerging technologies to scale and deliver real-time information to wider stakeholder audiences. These advances are transforming planning, funding, and management models for sensor networks, as well as the actionable data produced. This session in EnviroSensing invites papers in the topics of land-based sensor network architectures, end-to-end workflows, streaming data management, physical and software support infrastructures, edge and fog computing, deployment best practices, and connectivity and telemetry. In particular, we welcome case studies of scalable and automated data Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC), open-source hardware and software solutions, community-based architectures, digital networking, and edge analytics.

Here is the full description of our session, and you can submit your abstract directly through clicking the following link:

Deadline: 29 July 2020, 11:59 P.M. EDT

Invited Speakers:
Matt Bartos, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil, Architectural, & Environmental Engineering, University of Texas at Austin
Frank Engel, Geographer, Texas Water Science Center, United States Geological Survey

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the AGU Fall Meeting this year will be mostly virtual. This means meeting registration fees will be greatly reduced and there will be no VISA or travel issues to worry about. So, please distribute to your colleagues far and wide!

We look forward to seeing many of you (virtually) at the 2020 AGU Fall Meeting, and we hope this finds all of you staying well and in positive spirits.

Cheers and many thanks,
Scotty Strachan - University of Nevada, Reno
Renée Brown - University of New Mexico
Joseph Bell - United States Geological Survey
