Dear members of the ESIP Information Quality Cluster (IQC),
You are receiving this note because you have been involved with the IQC since the Summer 2015 ESIP Meeting, and/or had been on the IQC distribution list in the past. We have had two monthly telecons since the summer meeting. The telecons are regularly scheduled for the second Thursday of each month between 11 AM and Noon Pacific Time (2 to 3 PM Eastern). The notes from the summer meeting and the monthly telecons can be found as shown below:
* Summer ESIP Meeting: http://commons.esipfed.org/node/7918
* Monthly telecons: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T4wEmY48qpP7cDrbqV7tppkZ3q0GGkJNz_glvu4C2RI/edit
As you can see from the notes, our approach to this year's work will start with defining several use cases. The use cases should be broad enough to demonstrate the need for various types of data quality information that a user needs to be able to use data for his/her applications. From the work the NASA Earth Science Data System Working Groups' Data Quality Working Group did during 2014-2015, there are 16 use cases. The IQC members should broaden this set with several more to cover other-than-NASA perspectives. A use case submission template designed for NASA's DQWG has been modified slightly for this purpose, but one of the first actions for this group, to be completed before the next telecon is to have the IQC review the template and suggest any needed changes. The template itself can be found at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1DjxlHijBy3JPT942WgodsV7JQYptwfbgFwTVzjsC7yo/viewform. To facilitate accepting comments from you all, we have created a Google sheet, which mirrors the template. You should be able to edit this sheet using the link below:
I would appreciate your review and comments/corrections to the above Google sheet by October 8, 2015 so that we can make an adjustments and have it ready by the next telecon date (October 15, 2015 at 11 AM Pacific Time; I will send out a reminder with details as the date approaches).
When a person fills in the use case template, the information automatically migrates into the Google sheet. The Google sheet that resulted from the 16 use cases from the NASA DQWG can be viewed at
