In late February,  I had sent you a notification about the joint webinar that was held in collaboration with ARDC in Australia. Below is a message from Mingfang Wu, providing a link to the recording of the webinar. I was not able to attend the webinar due to a family emergency, but just finished listening to the recording. There are three presentations, all of which are excellent.

Thank you all again for either organising or giving a topic at the event. We had about 40 registrations, 6 of them were from US - I assume they are from the ESIP IQC. An audience from Taylor & Francis Journals (South Asia) emailed us with this comment: "It was an excellent session and I would be keen to share slides with colleagues, especially those managing our earth sciences portfolio.". Well done to Peng and Yaxing for your great presentation!

We will identify future collaboration with the IQC when opportunities arise.

Yes, I’m ok with recording the talk and posting to the ARDC youtube channel. That’s a great idea.

Yes, I will briefly talk about IQC and its objectives at the beginning of the presentation. 

The title of my presentation will be “ESIP Information Quality Cluster – Vision, Objectives, Accomplishments and Status”. I will share my slides with you a bit before the presentation.

I do have a question about the time of the presentation. I received an calendar invite for this event, which will be between 11am-1pm Friday Australian time (7-9pm Thursday Eastern time). Will my presentation start right at 11am EAT (or 7pm Eastern)? Thanks.

The ESIP Information Quality Cluster (IQC) has been active since 2014 covering a broad spectrum of topics related to information quality in Earth sciences. The cluster’s vision is to “become internationally recognized as an authoritative and responsive information resource for guiding the implementation of data quality standards and best practices of the science data systems, datasets, and data/metadata dissemination services.” The IQC considers four aspects of quality – Data Quality, Product Quality, Stewardship Quality and Service Quality. One of the objectives of the IQC is to support: 1. Data producers with information about standards and best practices for conveying data quality and 2. Data providers/ distributors/intermediaries establish, improve, and evolve mechanisms to assist users in discovering, understanding, and applying data quality information properly.
