Hello all,

We will be having a call tomorrow which was postponed from last week due to
the CF Meeting. We hope many of you were able to attend!

This week we will be going over some new (to us!) concepts in virtual
session design, and interactively find ways to implement these ideas into
the session which the Marine Data Cluster will be presenting at the ESIP
Summer Meeting.

Data Interoperability for In-Situ Oceanographic Datasets
> <https://2020esipsummermeeting.sched.com/event/cIva/data-interoperability-for-in-situ-oceanographic-datasets>
> This session will present several examples of data management best
> practices that can contribute to data interoperability in a real world
> context. Efforts by data centers within the oceanographic community will be
> explored and discussed, presented by and from the perspective of
> representatives from these data centers. The examples will come from
> in-situ oceanographic datasets, but domain specific concerns as well as
> universal data management concerns will be considered and compared, making
> this session appropriate for those outside this domain who are interested
> in the practical application of data interoperability principles.

These session design principles are centered on the ADIDS approach, which
is built on the research done by Dr. Malcolm S. Knowles on adult learning,
and formalized into a method by SaferJourno
<http://saferjourno.internews.org/>. These materials were presented at a
2-day workshop held by Dirk Slater <https://www.fabriders.net/dirkslater/>
and made possible through support from ESIP.

Please join to learn more about this session design framework, and also to
help shape what I hope will be a productive and successful session at ESIP
Summer Meeting. Also, please feel free to pass along this invitation to
anyone who might want to participate.
