Hi everyone,
Thank you for producing an extensive and active research and engagement
portfolio which inspired excellent discussion during last week's ESIP
Summer Meeting. It was great to see everyone and meet the many new Data
Stewardship Committee participants.

I had mentioned during our group's Planning Session last week that I
recently updated our group's charter / mission statement, which is
available here
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1TzVbPngi113J9nMJQc2GdbmBIsVTrKqSdOW24TIlRFQ/edit#heading=h.funrwodw6eox>.
Feedback, especially the addressing of edits and the insertion of
additional content where necessary, is requested. At only three (3) pages,
it clearly is not meant to be a Strategic Plan but rather a document
illustrating the extent of our responsibilities and activities as well as
the manner in which we see our role within the ESIP Community.
Feedback by *July
31* is welcome. Please note that this effort differs entirely from that
for the ESIP Strategic Plan. Kudos to Curt Tilmes for his contributions to
this effort.

Additionally, International GEO has approached ESIP about creating a
response to its development of a data management principles implementation
guide. Erin, Ruth, Bob Downs, Bob Chen, and I are involved. Anyone
interested in volunteering is asked to e-mail Erin and me *ASAP*.

   Best,
  Justin
