Hi Lewis,

Thanks for reaching out to the RDA Data Discovery Interest Group. We are
aware the geosci.schema.org
effort at the ESIP Semantic Web cluster through Douglas Fils and Beth
Huffer. I just signed up to the cluster's
mailing list and am actually about to contact you.

Last year, we organised two virtual meetings and a workshop at the RDA P12
toward the effort "Using
schema.org and enriched metadata to enable/boost FAIRness on research
resources".
Yes, you are quite right that the objectives
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cuxZGfL0I7dCu8sGcFzlVAKPddggKkbxtcrT7FZgr-I/edit#heading=h.5fd2hlf5gdq1>
we identified from the discussions are similar to yours, although we
aim to be discipline-agnostic.

At the moment, we are working on a survey instrument for collecting current
practices on schemas.
The survey would help us to achieve the Objective #3 and partially the
Objective #2. We are conducting
dry run this week, will iterate the survey instrument by accommodating
feedback from dry run next week. We
aim to socialise the survey and invite people to participate in less then 2
weeks.

While we are waiting for people fill in the survey, there is no reason why
we could not have a look of
those extensions we have already known such as geosci.schema.org and
bioschemas (and crosswalks as well such DCAT to schema.org). Your guidance
documents (especially data model and repository model) provide an excellent
start for us. Fotis will organise a virtual meeting that is about in two
weeks time. We can discuss how we can collaborate and proceed this
activity.

BTW, we will have a BoF session
<https://www.rd-alliance.org/bof-using-schemaorg-and-enriched-metadata-enableboost-fairness-research-resources-rda-13th-plenary>
about schemas and a group session at the RDA P13. Hope you and member of
the two groups will join us.

Kind regards,
Ming
