[esip-semantictech] Status of the SWEET ontology services

Regarding the page at https://gcmd.nasa.gov/records/SWEET-Ontology.html, I’ve touched base with my colleague at GSFC to update or remove the entry as it is outdated.

You can now map http://sweet.jpl.nasa.gov/2.2/matrWater.owl#SaltWater to http://sweetontology.net/matrWater/SaltWater note the new IRI construction. More information on IRI construction can be found at https://github.com/ESIPFed/sweet/wiki/SWEET-IRI-Patterns-for-Ontologies-and-Their-Terms

If you have any more issues with SWEET please let the community know at https://github.com/ESIPFed/sweet/issues

Thanks for your email. The JPL SWEET website is no longer the official website. We have moved the home of our open source SWEET ontologies. It is actively being maintained by the ESIP Federation community. Lewis McGibbney is the ESIP Semantic Technology Committee Chair. He will be able to provide you additional information.

Hi Thomas,

I’m contacting you because you are the listed contact for the SWEET ontology which is documented at https://gcmd.nasa.gov/records/SWEET-Ontology.html

I have been attempting to resolve several URIs from that ontology like http://sweet.jpl.nasa.gov/2.2/matrWater.owl#SaltWater to their RDF concept definition records, but all my HTTP requests just hang with no response.  Experimenting via a web browsers suggests that the entire sweet.jpl.nasa.gov domain has the same problem.

I am attempting to access these URLs from Australia, but a quick check at https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/sweet.jpl.nasa.gov.html suggests that this is no just a local issue.

Are you aware of this issue with the SWEET ontology services and website?
If so, is there any information available about when these services might be restored?
