=== Speaker bio

Rob specialises in distributed systems and data integration. He is a 
pioneer of putting maps and databases on the Web and coauthor of WMS 1.0 
. Ever since then, Rob has been worrying about how to realise the goal 
of social-scale information sharing for better decision making. This has 
led to a focus on the nature of interoperability and semantic 
interoperability in particular. Rob is currently working part time for 
the OGC, managing the Definitions Server capability and SURROUND 
Australia where he works on applications of observations over reasoning, 
including semantics and AI, to handle evolving knowledge about complex 
systems.
