My apologies for this late recap. We met Oct 4 after a month-long hiatus (hurricane Ian in Florida!) with about 8 folks calling in. ESIP updates & reminders: applications for fellowships are coming up, life-time achievement awards nominations are due, ESIP is leading IGNITE at AGU and proposals for ESIP winter meeting are open. (links and other announcements are on the notes document)

Most of discussion focus on the Soil Data Model draft. Broadly, the manuscript is aimed at providing a reference for future researchers in soil science to pattern their own data templates on. As well as, bring forward existing semantic resources and how to use them.

Moving forward we have a speaker for the next session (scheduled on October 18, 2022) Dr. Erin Berryman who will cover the topics on geolocation (surface location, sample time, depth of the sample) in the US Forest Service FIA data base; and might also talk about litter & debris quantification! The presentation will be recorded for those who can’t make it.

As always more notes and links can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/12OtoXo6YV4zK9a79VeJK8XE7iEf02hF9Uf-ggQ8YlG4/edit?usp=sharing

See you next week!
