Greetings CDF members

As most of you know,  a lot of energy has been going in to the planning of the EarthCube Architecture.  The EarthCube Leadership Council is requesting that the EC TAC and the members of the CDF provide input related to the EC Architecture.  The Word document that I am attaching to this email (Architecture request.docx)  provides the full letter from the LC. I am also providing the URLs to the Final Architecture Workshop Report and another link to  a page that has Architecture Implementation Documents in it.

As indicated in the Attached Word document (that has embedded links to documents in it) they wish to hear from the CDF members by January 30, 2017

I am reproducing the 5 questions they wish us to address here:
"As we move towards adoption of an implementation plan, we would like the TAC and CDF to review of the Solutions Architecture document <https://docs.google.com/document/d/1E9kuRfC5Emo3f2Y94rMrELNmuoOzNT83522vV-qk_eE/edit> that was delivered by Xentity.    We look forward to receiving your review by January 30, 2017.  In your review, please respond to the following questions.

What are the major strengths of the proposed architecture? Please be specific and if possible, identify strengths that support geoscience research and differentiate this architecture from other government-supported architectures.
   
	2.   What are the major shortcomings of the proposed architecture? Please be specific and if possible, identify potential mitigation strategies for each.
  
	3.   What additional information would be needed to connect existing and planned capabilities inside and outside of EarthCube, including building blocks, with the architecture as described?
  
	4. If you are familiar with the architecture recommended by the EC Architecture Workshop in May 2016, how well does the Solutions Architecture reflect the outcomes of the workshop? Again, please be specific.
  	5. Other comments: "

I would like to get a single integrated response from each of the CDF members if possible, not from multiple individuals from the same organization.

It will take some effort to review the various documents but the time to complete the 5 questions should be minimal.
