Hello, everyone:

I have some exciting news to share with you regarding the DMT Clearinghouse!
As follows:

- We're getting ready for a soft launch announcement this next week
to at least the ESIP Data Stewardship Committee on their monthly call
tomorrow at 11 am Pacific where I'm giving a 15 minute (or so) presentation
/ demo on the Clearinghouse. Please feel free to join that call, especially
if you were not able to attend our monthly call earlier in the month.
Call-in information can be found at http://www.esipfed.org/telecons

- The DMT Clearinghouse can be reached at:
http://dmtclearinghouse.esipfed.org . Check it out!

- We've submitted a Statement of Interest (SOI) to the USGS
Community for Data Integration (CDI) for Phase 2 funding for the DMT
Clearinghouse! I am very happy to report that Cassandra Ladino, Physical
Scientist at the USGS Eastern Geographic Center has agreed to be the USGS
Principal Investigator for this next phase of the Clearinghouse. I'm very
excited to be working with her as she has a lot of experience with and
interest in Data Management, and in web mapping applications, web
programming and decision support tools. Thanks so much to Cassandra for
stepping in at the 11th hour, and also thanks to Tamar Norkin from USGS Core
Science Analytics Center who helped find Cassandra, and scrambled with us
(and Erin Robinson) to submit the SOI in time!

o I have attached the SOI that we submitted

o All the SOIs will be reviewed and voted upon by members of the CDI
during the next several months, so keep your fingers crossed and/or vote for
the Proposal should you be a CDI member.

o If we receive enough votes, we will then be invited to submit a full
proposal for funding that will be due in late January of 2017, and announced
in March of 2017.

- In the meantime, we're planning some usability testing and
content submission events for upcoming conferences and meetings to get the
word out and the Clearinghouse inventory expanded. We're also looking for
other funding opportunities, so let us know if you know of any. Hope you
can join us.

That's all for now although I want to thank the following people for their
support and hard work getting us where we are on the DMT Clearinghouse: JC
Nelson, Tamar Norkin and John Faundeen from USGS, Sophie Hou and Matt
Mayernik from NCAR, Amber Budden and Viv Hutchison from DataONE, Shelley
Knuth from UC Boulder, David Bassendine, Blue Dot Lab, and of course, Erin
Robinson, ESIP. (Apologies if I've forgotten anyone!) Please let us know
if you have questions!

Regards,

Nancy
