Hi everyone,

Please consider participating in a special session on DLESE, the Digital
Library for Earth System Education, at the fall meeting of the American
Geophsysical Union (from 8-12 December, in San Francisco, CA). The goals
for this session are to introduce DLESE and its development efforts and to
explore collaborations that can add value to DLESE. These can include
resources that highlight new scientific understandings, collections that
meet specific educational needs, or services that provide access to
scientific data. If you are involved in DLESE projects, or would like to
be, please consider submitting an abstract by September 4th, using the AGU
website.

--Session Description--

The Digital Library for Earth System Education (DLESE) is a
community-built, NSF-funded digital library that supports teaching and
learning about the Earth. Our session will demonstrate new library services
and collections, describe library developments, and highlight opportunities
for collaboration. It will include presentations from the core service
areas as well as other projects making major contributions to library
development. We will focus on efforts to integrate research and education
into the geosciences. In particular, we will emphasize how DLESE services
and community can cooperate with research initiatives to fulfill NSF?s
criteria 2 (broader impacts of the proposed activity), and how DLESE can
participate in the emerging cyber infrastructure initiatives.
