I received the following request from Joan Aron at EPA. Are there data
sources that anyone can contribute to assist her with this project?
Please contact Joan directly at Aron.Joan at epamai.epa.gov.

Subject: remote sensing info for Mexico

Hi Carol:

I'm in my AAAS Fellowship at EPA/GEOSS. I am seeking your advice about
a data issue.

I recently attended a meeting in Mexico on ecosystems and health.

I have found an opportunity where the GEO community can help a Mexican
public health scientist with data access. Juan Eugenio Hernandez is a
GIS expert at the National Institute of Public Health (Cuernavaca,
Mexico) who has just completed a nationwide information system for
dengue that integrates disease reporting and control data. Dengue is a
growing problem in Mexico and commands the attention of the national
government.

Juan Eugenio would like to take the next step in linking the health data
to environmental variates with national coverage: a) temperature, b)
precipitation, and c) evapotranspiration. If possible, he would also
like to have canopy coverage for specific cities.

Do you have any suggestions for obtaining these data? This certainly
includes the sources of data themselves, but it's also helpful to have a
person to give some guidance.

Thanks.
