Dear RDA Members,

How often have you started on a project only to find that someone else did the same thing or similar two years ago? How often have you found a data service that you thought was great but then realized it had a fundamental problem that prevented broad application. How often have you gone to a technical meeting where someone is pushing their gizmo as a solution to all problems--"just do it my way and everything will work".

The RDA Technical Advisory Board (https://www.rd-alliance.org/rda-tab.html) is intended to prevent such problems. We need technically savvy people form different domains and regions to ensure RDA stays technically balanced and effective, RDA is seeking candidates for the RDA Technical Advisory Board (TAB). The TAB provides technical expertise and advice to the Council, as well as helping in the development of Working Groups case statements and outputs to promote their impact and effectiveness. The TAB is responsible for the technical approach of the RDA and the development and maintenance of an RDA Technical Roadmap document.

Candidates are invited to send a short biography of less than 300 words, a photo and a 200 word description of what added value they can provide to the RDA TAB and why they should be elected to TAB by 30 August.

This should be sent to enquiries [at] rd-alliance.org<http://rd-alliance.org>. All candidates will then be invited to make a short presentation of their candidacy during the plenary session on 16 September 2013 in Washington. Voting will take place shortly after the plenary and will be done electronically, all RDA members can vote. Those elected will have a term of office for 2 years.

Those of you who would like to be considered for the TAB by election should consult the TAB procedures to see how they are arranged to achieve a balanced group.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information you may require

Check out the programme & register for the 2nd Plenary Meeting - 16-18 September 2013, Washington DC, US @ https://www.rd-alliance.org/future-events

Kind regards
Hilary
on behalf of the RDA Secretariat
