[ESIP-all] [ESSI] Warning about AGU invited authors deadline

I entered three invited speakers in to session IN032 two days ago. And for
the fourth one, because he is not a member so his name is not in the system
and I emailed abstracts at agu.org asking them to load the contact information
of that speaker. After one day I received this answer:

I have forwarded your author's information to our member services. He will
receive and email with his username and password from service at agu.org. He
needs to log into the abstract submission website found on the Fall Meeting
website using the information provide in that email. Once he has done that a
page with a yellow button that says "continue to abstract submissions" will
appear. He must click that button in order to transfer his information over
to the abstract database. He can then log back out and then you will be able
to add him as an invited speaker.

Hope I can get this done before the deadline.

So, it seems that although they tell you to follow the instructions in
Abstract Central, but those instructions are wrong, because AGU doesn't
allow people to add invited authors themselves. And it seems that it's an
official policy change, based on the response I got. (see below).

I'm guessing it's a form letter, as they didn't bother responding to my
question about how long it'll take to get people entered on the day of our
invited author deadline.

It's little crap like this that make me glad that I threw the ESSI secretary
election. I'm thinking this is probably going to be my last year with AGU
unless they make some rather dramatic changes in policies ... and select an
abstract system that doesn't seem like it's some bizarre psychological
experiment to see how awful of a system that they can force us to use.

They can do so using the link below. Once they join, they can log into the
abstract submission website (same link), and they will be given a button to
continue to abstract submissions. By selecting this button their member
information will be transferred to the abstract submission database. They
can then just log out and you can then add them as invited authors.

contact information (name, affiliation, title, mailing address, email, and
phone number). We will then manually add each individual record and follow
the same process stated in the previous paragraph. Thank you.
