The National Science Foundation (NSF), Directorate for Geosciences (GEO), Division for Research, Innovation, Synergies, and Education (RISE), announces a nationwide search for a Program Director to be part of the RISE’s Geosciences Cyberinfrastructure (GEO CI) Incubator. The Program Director would co-manage an evolving set of cyberinfrastructures (CI) funding opportunities to support an open science initiative for research and education in the geosciences, to advance computing capabilities, and to promote novel applications of data science and computational techniques, including artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML).

Formal consideration of interested applications will begin on October 2, 2023, and will continue until a selection is made.

The Program Officer will be recruited as a Rotator through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act (IPA). Individuals eligible for an IPA assignment with a Federal agency include employees of State and local government agencies or institutions of higher education, Indian tribal governments, and other eligible organizations in instances where such assignments would be of mutual benefit to the organizations involved. Initial assignments under IPA provisions may be made for a period up to two years, with a possible extension for up to an additional two-year period. The individual remains an employee of the home institution and NSF provides the negotiated funding toward the assignee's salary and benefits. Initial IPA assignments are made for a one-year period and may be extended by mutual agreement.

More information on the position and instructions for how to apply can be found here: https://new.nsf.gov/careers/openings/geo/rise/rise-2023-96355
