Hello ESIP Cloud Computing Cluster Members!
I'm hoping there are some new folks on this list who joined the cloud
computing cluster following the ESIP Summer Session - *welcome!!!*
We had a great session on cloud-optimized data formats and services
yesterday. I want to use our standing session this upcoming Monday to keep
momentum going on some of these topics. See the notes doc takeaways: Break
out session notes and takeaways
<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mxyhk_uzAeuhidcVKzVixD8zFbZQ7gZ2slwecR5wuqY/edit#heading=h.sovv6069hk3e>
.
Proposed agenda:
- Review takeaways from the cloud-optimized data formats session
- *What else did people get out of the summer session? What were other
sessions you attended?*
- Assess what action items we want to take, some ideas:
- Create a list of next session topics, presenters and goals of those
sessions. For example, a deeper dive into *point cloud
cloud-optimized access* options, to include Trevor Skaggs and Howard
Butler (EPT inventor and now working on
https://github.com/copcio/copcio.github.io)
- Add best practices for APIs and standards for cloud-optimized data
access and formats to cloud cookbooks.
- Create an example of how to implement metadata, say in STAC of
linking to notebooks and other metadata required for *reproducing the
dataset *and *demonstrating how to use the dataset.*
*Meeting Logistics! *
